Annie’s Favorites

SOL Restaurant

For delicious Mexican eats, SOL is the place to go. Try one of their unique specialty taco flavors such as short rib and blue corn, sweet potato and black bean, or duck. The restaurant is also known for its brunch, serving breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, and crab and shrimp cake eggs benedict. Other options include classic quesadillas, tacos, and burritos. If you’re looking to indulge, you can even order their house or watermelon margaritas to-go by the glass or pitcher.

The Cannery

The Cannery has been a Newport Beach staple for nearly 90 years—and for good reason. From seafood and sushi to steak and chicken, The Cannery has something for everyone. Start things off with fried calamari, clam chowder, or tempura shrimp before enjoying some fish and chips, shrimp pasta, or Chilean sea bass. The restaurant also has a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails available for takeaway.

Wild Goose Tavern

Wild Goose Tavern’s goal is to be “a place where good friends and memories are made—a place to simply relax and unwind.” Even when ordering to-go, this quality is obvious in the New American cuisine they serve. Bar bites include innovative eats such as white truffle garlic, BBQ pulled pork, and vegan gravy fries and the restaurant’s famous bison chili. Entrees include classic dishes like cheeseburgers and patty melts alongside creative concoctions like ahi tuna burgers and wild boar corn dogs.

OLEA offers a European twist on the Napa/Sonoma cuisine that’s served at sister restaurant Vine—which was named one of the 75 best restaurants by the Orange County Register. Combining the sophistication of Wine Country with the modernness of an American bistro, OLEA’s ingredients are all fresh and seasonal, and its dishes are made daily from scratch. Start with lemon and honey duck wings or fried green tomatoes with fresh burrata alla panna before digging into a filet mignon or crispy jidori chicken schnitzel with maitake mushrooms. Finish your meal off with one of the restaurant’s famous dark chocolate chunk and Fromage blanc cookies. You can also order a cleverly-worded cocktail such as a Rich Girl, Bad Decisions, or Pinky’s Out.

Other Options

True Food Kitchen

True Food Kitchen is a Fashion Island staple that’s now delivering. Their menu shifts seasonally to reflect their dedication to utilizing local and sustainable ingredients in their meals, and their menu items can be customized to suit your diet, including keto and paleo options. Bite into a cauliflower polenta bowl, an inside out quinoa burger, or a refreshing poke bowl with wild-caught albacore. Cool off with a banana and date smoothie or start your day with any of their filling breakfast items, such as an egg and chicken sausage sandwich or a sunrise bowl with sunny-side-up eggs, ancient grains, and sweet potatoes.

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood

For upscale seafood at home, try Eddie V’s. Although this establishment has locations across the country, each Eddie V’s restaurant incorporates local ingredients and cuisine. Their Newport Beach menu boasts items such as salt and pepper shrimp, Hong Kong-style Chilean sea bass, and crab and corn chowder. If you prefer turf over surf, their entrée options also include 12-ounce center-cut filet mignon and a double breast of chicken with roasted mushrooms. Their dedication to using only the freshest seafood ensures that excellence is always on the menu.

Eat Chow

If you’re craving hearty American cuisine, order from Eat Chow. Their sophisticated take on New American fares means their menu is overflowing with a little bit of everything. They put elevated twists on diner classics, like truffle parmesan fries, fig and brie paninis, and five-cheese macaroni and cheese with Muenster, Manchego, cheddar, Swiss, and goat cheese! Plus, they serve up heaping plates of Baja-style fish tacos, chimichurri skirt steak, and grilled prawns.  Whether you order brunch, lunch, or dinner, their menu is filling and familiar.

Rusty Pelican

Rusty Pelican is known for both their relaxed take on fine dining and their incredible outdoor patio, but they have adapted their serving options to include no-contact delivery so that you can enjoy spicy orange ginger glazed swordfish without worry. Their menu is stuffed with fresh seafood selections like yellowtail tuna served with broccolini, Skuna Bay salmon with shrimp and lobster sauce, and savory shrimp scampi. Don’t forget dessert! You can still enjoy a slice of their New York-style cheesecake with strawberry coulis or a decadent chocolate torte at home.
