5 Ways to Spend New Year’s Eve in Newport Beach

Celebrate 2021 From Your Newport Beach Home!
Annie Clougherty  |  December 23, 2020

New Year’s Eve might look a little different this year, but there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the holiday in Newport Beach! Here are some activities for festive fun you can enjoy with your household as we close out 2020.

1. Have dinner at home

Missing those fun New Year’s dinners and bar outings from previous years? Plenty of Newport Beach restaurants are offering delivery, so you can dine on favorite dishes—or discover fun new ones—with your household! Rothschild’s fantastic Italian menu is available for takeout, allowing you to create the perfect fine-dining experience in your own home. You can also enjoy delivery from Gina’s Pizza, 501 Park Avenue Bistro, or The Stand.

2. Game night with the family

When the food has arrived, set up a game night with your whole family! Card games are always fun, and if you have kids in the household, have everyone choose a favorite board game. If anyone received a Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 5 during the holidays, try breaking out some multiplayer videogames for everyone to enjoy!

3. Make drinks with your household

If you’re feeling nostalgic for the Newport Beach bar scene, why not look up some fun cocktail recipes to make with your household or close friends? You can even hold a tequila or bourbon tasting, trying different samples from various brands to see which is the favorite. Of course, don’t forget the champagne toast at midnight! It’ll be just as fun from the comfort of your own home.

4. Get outside

One of the perks of living in Newport Beach is being able to enjoy the balmy weather any time of year. Spend New Year’s Day taking a socially distanced stroll on Corona del Mar State Beach, head to Crystal Cove State Park for a hike, or play a round of golf at the Newport Beach Golf Course.

5. Video chat with faraway friends

Everyone can agree that it’s been a difficult year, especially if your friends or family are scattered across the country. Set up a video call with your loved ones to catch up, play games, or even watch the ball drop. If people live across different time zones, you can ring in 2021 multiple times!
