A little Halloween Fun

Selling a home, Halloween style
Annie Clougherty  |  October 29, 2026

Every Home Has a Story. This One Might Need a Few Extra Disclosures.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, so you knew I couldn’t let October pass without having a little fun with a house tour. Usually, I’m walking you through homes around coastal Orange County, talking about the location, the layout, and what makes a property special. This time, there were a few other things to consider. Mainly, whether everyone living there was still alive.

I decided to put my own spin on a haunted house showing. Think vaulted ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors, a memorable powder room, and a few residents who seem to be having trouble moving on.

The seller is motivated. The spirits are less flexible. I would recommend scheduling your showing before sunset.

After more than 20 years in real estate, I’ve walked into plenty of homes where something unexpected came up. A room that wasn’t in the photos. An unusual renovation. A seller with very specific showing instructions. You learn to keep a straight face, ask questions, and figure out what you’re working with.

For this tour, I took that same approach. A strange noise upstairs? Let’s keep looking at the ceiling height. A door closing on its own? We’ll come back to that. There may or may not have been a death here, but have you seen the hardwood floors?

Thankfully, this property tour is entirely a Halloween spoof. Although I will say that trying to sell a haunted house would put a whole new meaning behind “seller to deliver the property vacant.”

I love what I do, and part of that is getting creative with how I share it. Real estate involves serious decisions and a lot of responsibility, but there’s room to have some fun along the way. Halloween gives me the perfect excuse to step outside my usual tours of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Corona del Mar, and Newport Coast and show you something a little different.

Watch the video and let me know: would you write an offer, or would you be back in the car before we reached the powder room?

Happy Halloween! 🎃
