Back in the spring, I was referred to a wonderful couple moving to California for a job relocation. They’d set their sights on beach cities in South County, and after extensive research together, they fell in love with Laguna Beach. After several trips out and viewing 32 homes, they zeroed in on one of their early favorites: a charming craftsman in Woods Cove, close to town.
However, as we dug into inspections, my buyers began to feel uncertain. Laguna’s allure comes from its unique, one-of-a-kind homes, each with its quirks—but that’s also what made them pause. After a lot of thought, they decided to cancel.
This was one of those moments when the true value of a realtor shines: patience, market knowledge, and being a calm guide in the eye of a storm. Rather than cancel immediately, I suggested we take a step back. With just six weeks until their big move, I recommended they come back out to explore the market further. We requested a short extension from the sellers agent, who graciously gave us the time to make sure this decision was right.
